Are you a compassionate veterinarian looking to grow your career in a supportive, fun, and high-quality practice? Hillside Animal Hospital in La Crosse, WI is seeking a dedicated Associate Veterinarian—new grads and experienced DVMs alike—to join our dynamic team!
 
For years, we’ve proudly served our community with excellence, earning multiple “Best of La Crosse County” awards in the veterinary clinic category. As a 100% small animal, AAHA-accredited hospital, we are committed to practicing modern medicine with a personal touch.
 
Why You’ll Love Working at Hillside
  • Supportive Team & Low Turnover – With 3 certified veterinary technicians (40+ years of combined experience), experienced assistants, and doctors with 2–10 years at our practice, you’ll be joining a close-knit, collaborative group that values teamwork and quality medicine. Our COS has been leading the team since 2016.
  • Strong Tech Support – Each DVM is paired with a dedicated assistant daily, plus 1–2 floating techs to support appointments. For surgeries, you’ll have 1 CVT and 1 assistant by your side.
  • Surgery/Dentistry Required – We’re seeking a doctor who either already enjoys surgery or is eager to learn. You’ll have mentorship and training to develop your skills with confidence.
  • Appointment Flow & Scheduling – Appointments are 30–40 minutes, depending on the case. Surgery days run 8 a.m.–2 p.m. with no appointments afterward—dedicated time to focus fully on procedures.
  • Flexible Full-Time Schedule – DVMs work 4 days per week on varying shifts (8–5, 8–4:30, or 11–8). Each doctor works every 5th Saturday (half day).

  • Work-Life Balance: We prioritize flexibility so DVMs can schedule time off when they need it. Every doctor gets a full lunch break plus 20 minutes of extra admin time daily.

Mentorship That Makes a Difference
Our structured mentorship program is tailored to support new graduates in building confidence and clinical independence. You’ll receive:
  • Shadowing and one-on-one surgical training
  • Extended appointment times to build confidence early on
  • Weekly case review meetings with our COS and associate DVMs
  • 24/7 senior DVM support for on-call shifts
  • Virtual Topic Rounds with protected time during the workday
  • Monthly forums, Empower Hour sessions, and Vet Life Days at other practices
  • Dedicated support to help you develop into the veterinarian you want to be
On-Call & Coverage
We share on-call duties with two other local clinics. Each DVM covers:
  • One evening every third week 
  • One full weekend once per year
This collaborative setup means lighter coverage for everyone and strong support when emergencies arise.
